Monken Unhappy with Quarterback Performance at Browns OTAs
"We threw interceptions in 7-on-7 for God's sakes. Who does that? There's no pass rush."
Cleveland Browns quarterbacks coach Todd Monken did not hold back his frustration following Wednesday's Organized Team Activities (OTAs), criticizing the turnover rate from his signal-callers.
A Frustrating Day on the Field
According to Monken, the interceptions were particularly egregious given the limited defensive pressure allowed during OTAs. Without a pass rush, quarterbacks have a clear advantage in finding open receivers.
Monken described the performance as "embarrassing," noting that the mistakes came during a drill heavily weighted in favor of the offense.
The Competition Heats Up
Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders are currently the primary competitors for the starting quarterback job. Dillion Gabriel and rookie Taylen Green are taking backup reps.
Key Details:
- Monken declined to name which specific quarterbacks threw the interceptions
- He also would not indicate who is currently leading the competition
- Monken aims to have a starting quarterback determined by the end of the spring
