A Heartfelt Goodbye and a Look Ahead

Seth Meyers is "heartbroken" over the end of Stephen Colbert's The Late Show.

Meyers, host of Late Night with Seth Meyers, recently commented on Colbert's departure, calling it a major loss for television. He voiced significant concern that CBS will fill the 11:35 p.m. time slot with Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen under a time buy model.

"I’m heartbroken," Meyers said, describing the departure as a loss for television.

Colbert is moving on to co-write the screenplay for the next Lord of the Rings film, tentatively titled The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past. Despite his sadness, Meyers expressed hope for his colleague's future.

"I’m optimistic about Stephen’s next chapter," Meyers stated.

The Setting

Meyers made these remarks in Madrid at the premiere of Rafa, a Netflix documentary about tennis legend Rafael Nadal.

The documentary was directed by Zach Heinzerling, who is Meyers's brother-in-law. Rafa premieres on May 29 and will be submitted for Emmy consideration.
