A 27-year-old man has been charged in connection with the alleged kidnapping of Marvin Oraiha, who was shot dead in Sydney's west in May 2023.

Oraiha, 24, was shot in his car in Elizabeth Hills on May 22, 2023, and died at the scene. Police allege he was kidnapped by an organized criminal network in March 2023, months before his death.
According to police, Oraiha was detained overnight at a unit in Belfield, and demands for ransom were made. Family members were sent images of Oraiha with significant head injuries.
On Wednesday, detectives arrested a 27-year-old man in Dawes Point, seizing $31,700 in cash from his car. The man was charged with take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm, and participate in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity.
He was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
Two months after Oraiha's death, police charged Simione Lua, 22, with murder. Police stated they believe multiple people were involved in Oraiha's murder.
