"The 2016 Rio Olympics victory inspired her to take up the sport."

Isabella Nasser, co-captain of the Australian women's rugby sevens team, has credited the team's historic gold medal win at the 2016 Rio Olympics as the spark that led her to the sport. Australia claimed the first-ever women's rugby sevens gold medal at those Games.

Nasser made her Olympic debut at the 2024 Paris Olympics and has already set her sights on competing at the LA 2028 Olympics. Beyond sevens, she has expressed a strong interest in representing the Wallaroos at the 2029 Women's Rugby World Cup, which will be hosted in Australia.

Australia is also set to compete in the Rugby Sevens World Championship finals, scheduled to take place in Valladolid and Bordeaux.
