Fire Rescue: Officer Catches Baby Thrown from Burning Home
Kalamazoo, Michigan – Dramatic body camera footage released by police captures a remarkable rescue during a house fire, where a police officer successfully caught an infant after the child was thrown from a second-story window by the mother.
The Rescue
Upon arriving at the scene of the house fire, an officer spotted the mother trapped at an upstairs window. The officer immediately instructed her to kick out the screen and drop the baby down to him. Moments later, he caught the infant safely in his arms.
"Drop the baby! I’ll catch him."
According to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, both the mother and her baby were transported to a local hospital for precautionary evaluation. Remarkably, neither sustained any injuries from the fire or the dramatic drop.
