The change follows a previous price increase in early 2025. Monthly and annual subscription prices remain unchanged. Existing Lifetime Pass holders are not affected by the new pricing.

The new price of $749.99 represents a 200% increase from the current $249.99. The price history of the Lifetime Plex Pass is as follows:

Features and Changes

Features gated behind the Plex Pass include:

  • Remote streaming
  • Intro/credit skipping
  • Hardware-accelerated streaming (transcoding)
  • Offline media file downloads
  • Advanced Plexamp features (offline caching, bit-perfect playback, sonic analysis)

The Plexamp app no longer requires a Plex Pass for basic functionality.

Plex stated it considered eliminating the Lifetime Pass option entirely. The company noted that recurring subscriptions help sustain long-term development.
