A former Brisbane doctor has been charged with 148 counts of sexual offences, following an investigation by Queensland police.
Stellios (Stan) Theodoros, 74, was charged on Tuesday with 94 counts of rape and 54 counts of sexual assault. The alleged offences occurred between the early 2000s and 2015.
Investigation and Allegations
The charges stem from an investigation by the Upper Mount Gravatt Criminal Investigation Branch, designated Operation Xray Cariyna. That probe was launched in August of the previous year after police received multiple complaints.
Investigators allege that Theodoros sexually assaulted 15 women, ranging in age from their late teens to their 40s.
Location and Background
The alleged offences are said to have occurred while Theodoros practiced at the Wellers Hill Medical Centre in Tarragindi, a suburb of Brisbane. He worked at the medical centre until his retirement in 2021 and was removed as a company director last year.
Legal Proceedings
Theodoros is scheduled to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 23.
Police have stated that their investigation is ongoing.
