Sierra Leone on High Alert for Ebola; No Cases Reported

Sierra Leone has not reported any confirmed or suspected cases of Ebola. In response to outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda, the country has implemented enhanced surveillance measures at points of entry and health facilities.

Foday Sahr, executive director of the NPHA, stated that the measures aim to ensure early detection and rapid response. The public was advised to:

  • Avoid unnecessary travel to affected areas.
  • Practice regular handwashing.
  • Avoid contact with bodily fluids of infected persons.
  • Report suspected symptoms through the national emergency line.
