A Garage Makeover, a Closer Family
Sofia Palacios, 22, lives in her family's detached garage in San Diego. She moved there in January with a clear purpose: to transform the space into a bedroom and art studio.

The move freed up a bedroom in the main house for her grandparents, who now visit more often and stay longer. While the garage has electricity, a sink, and a fan, it lacks a bathroom and kitchen, so Palacios accesses those facilities in the main house.
