Cancelled KOTOR Remake Footage Surfaces Online

The cinematic, a work-in-progress scene with placeholder voice acting and limited textures, was discovered on an animator's portfolio.

The clip depicts the player character and Trask Ulgo inside the Endar Spire ship. After a battle, they receive a call from Carth Onasi. An explosion creates a hull breach, sucking the characters into space, but Trask closes an emergency bulkhead door. The sequence ends with an objective to find Onasi, transitioning into gameplay.

A key revelation from the animator's portfolio is that the player character is fully voiced, a major departure from the original 2003 game where the protagonist was silent.

This aligns with a previous report from the YouTube channel "100% Star Wars" claiming a voiced protagonist and combat similar to Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Development History

The Aspyr version was cancelled after reportedly delivering a vertical slice that did not meet Sony's expectations. A separate remake project is now being developed by Saber Interactive's Mad Head Games.

A New Hope for the Franchise

A separate game, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, a new single-player RPG directed by original KOTOR director Casey Hudson, is in development.

Hudson stated the game is expected to release before 2030 and emphasized a focused scope.
