A series of shootings and vehicle thefts in Austin, Texas, from Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning resulted in four people being injured and the arrest of three juvenile suspects. Authorities have not identified a motive for the incident.
Incident Overview
The Austin Police Department reported at least 10 shootings occurred between late Saturday and Sunday. The targets included two fire stations, apartment buildings, and houses. In one incident on Sunday morning, a man walking his dog was shot in the back, according to Police Chief Lisa Davis.
Four victims were taken to hospitals, with one listed in critical condition. No fatalities were reported.
Suspects and Arrests
Three juveniles have been taken into custody in connection with the shootings:
- A 15-year-old boy was apprehended during a traffic stop.
- A 17-year-old boy was apprehended during the same traffic stop.
- A third juvenile suspect fled from the vehicle during the stop and was later detained by the Manor Police Department at a gas station.
The 15-year-old and 17-year-old were taken to a juvenile detention center. According to police, the firearm used in the shootings had been previously stolen by the 15-year-old. The 17-year-old was already wanted for a separate firearm theft. The suspects are also accused of stealing at least four vehicles.
Police Response
A shelter-in-place order was issued for a large area of south Austin following the shootings. The order was lifted after the suspects were taken into custody.

Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis confirmed that the suspects fired at multiple locations and that the weapon used was stolen by the 15-year-old suspect.
