Dylan Pietsch: Balancing Wallabies Duty, Art, and Family
A 28-year-old Wiradjuri man, Dylan Pietsch plays on the wing for both the Wallabies and the Western Force, while also running his own art business, Wulwaay Art. He launched the venture four years ago to deepen his cultural connection and manage the mental demands of professional rugby.
Jersey Design
Pietsch designed the jerseys for the Wallabies, Force, and Waratahs for the 2025 British and Irish Lions Tour of Australia. He became the 15th First Nations player to represent the Wallabies in 2024 and scored a try in the Wallabies' 22-12 win in the third Test against the Lions.
Injuries
Pietsch broke his jaw during the Wallabies' 38-22 win over South Africa in Johannesburg in August 2025, after scoring a try. He returned later that year. A foot injury delayed his 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season start until round eight.
Form
Since returning from injury, Pietsch has performed strongly for the Force. Rugby Australia and the Force offered him a contract extension through 2028. He contributed a one-handed offload to Zac Lomax leading to Henry Robertson's try in the Force's 31-26 win over the Crusaders in April.
Family
Pietsch's wife Ella was signed by the Force for the Super Rugby Women's season. She moved from rugby sevens and plays fullback or wing. They train together on Wednesdays.
