Official Song

Shakira and Burna Boy have released "Dai Dai" on streaming platforms, which FIFA has announced as the official song of the 2026 World Cup.

Royalties from the song will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, aiming to raise $100 million for children's education and soccer opportunities by the end of the tournament.

Song Details

The song title derives from the Italian expression "come on, come on." Its lyrics include equivalents in English, Japanese, French, and Spanish. The track blends Afrobeats with Latin Pop, is sung mostly in English and some Spanish, and references famous soccer players and countries participating in the tournament.

Artist Background

Burna Boy is a Nigerian singer who has brought Afrobeats to a mainstream audience. He became the first solo Nigerian artist to win a Grammy Award and the first African artist to sell out a U.S. stadium. Shakira previously performed official World Cup songs for the 2010, 2006, and 2014 tournaments.

Expert Comment

Eduardo Herrera, an ethnomusicology professor, noted the song includes typical signs of a good World Cup song and suggested that FIFA is purposefully appealing to Latin and sub-Saharan African populations.

Halftime Show

Shakira will also perform at the first-ever halftime show at the 2026 World Cup final, along with Madonna and BTS.
