"The court is satisfied Peters poses an unacceptable risk." – Justice Helen Roberts

Background

Damien Anthony Peters, 57, was sentenced to 21 years in prison in 2002 after pleading guilty to the murders of Tereupii Akai and Bevan Frost in 2001. He dismembered both victims.

His first parole release came in 2016, but he accumulated multiple violations, including drug use, threats to his supervising officer, and tampering with an electronic bracelet. He was released again in 2022 under a three-year Extended Supervision Order (ESO), but was found attempting to buy steroids and using methamphetamine and cannabis.

Current Event

In May 2025, Peters admitted to using cannabis and methamphetamine, being intoxicated, absconding, and missing counseling appointments. He was released from prison in September 2025.

On Friday, the NSW Supreme Court extended his supervision order by 18 months. Justice Helen Roberts stated that the court is satisfied Peters poses an unacceptable risk.

  • Prohibited from consuming alcohol or illicit drugs.
