Two people died Thursday afternoon when a 1963 Piper Cherokee single-engine plane crashed into a house in Akron, Ohio, igniting a fire.
The crash occurred around 3:45 p.m., shortly after the plane departed from Akron Fulton Airport, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The impacted house and a neighboring residence were evacuated. No injuries to occupants or bystanders on the ground were reported. A couple and their two children were home at the time of the crash but were unharmed.
The fire has been extinguished. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
