Bosisto’s opens $10 million distillery in Victoria, boosting production by 300%
Bosisto’s, the Australian eucalyptus oil producer, has opened a new $10 million distillery near Wedderburn, Victoria. The facility expands the company’s production capacity by 300%.
The new distillery uses steam distillation to extract oil from blue mallee trees. Executive director Tegan Abbott said it replaces an older facility and is designed to improve efficiency, productivity, and safety.
In collaboration with Melbourne University, Bosisto’s previously planted five million trees in central Victoria as part of a high-yield variety project.
The distillery operates with off-grid solar panels and recycles water. Spent leaf biomass is repurposed as fuel for the distillation process.
"The new distillery aims to improve efficiency, productivity, and safety." – Tegan Abbott, Executive Director
The project received support from the Victorian government's Manufacturing Growth Program. Loddon Shire Council mayor Dan Straub described the investment as a vote of confidence in the region.
At least seven new jobs have been created as a result of the expansion.
The Abbott family has owned Bosisto’s for 50 years.
