A search and rescue operation is ongoing following an avalanche on Monday near the base camp of Yalung Ri mountain in Nepal's Dolakha district. At least three individuals, including a French national and two Nepalese people, have been confirmed deceased. Four additional climbers—two Italians, a German, and a Canadian—are reported missing.

The avalanche occurred at approximately 09:00 local time (03:15 GMT) on Monday. The incident affected a group of 12 individuals, comprising trekkers and local guides, who had commenced their journey over an hour prior to the avalanche strike.
Casualties and Missing Persons
Confirmed fatalities include one French national and two Nepalese individuals. The specific roles of the Nepalese individuals (whether climbers or guides) have not been clarified. Four climbers, consisting of two Italians, one German, and one Canadian, are currently unaccounted for and are presumed missing. Five Nepali guides who returned to the base camp sustained non-critical injuries.
Rescue Operations
Local deputy superintendent of Police Gyan Kumar Mahato stated that three bodies have been identified by rescue teams, and efforts are underway to locate the four missing individuals. A rescue helicopter deployed on Monday landed in the Na Gaun area of Dolakha, approximately a five-hour walk from the Yelung Ri base camp. Search operations are reportedly facing challenges due to adverse weather conditions and logistical complexities.
