Checkpoint Near Khiam: Visitor Warned of Israeli Positions
A recent incident at a Lebanese Armed Forces checkpoint near the town of Khiam underscores the tense security situation along the border.
Blocked Road and Guarded Position
The road leading to the checkpoint was obstructed by a large garbage container and tires. Approximately six soldiers were positioned behind this barrier, which was located next to an abandoned petrol station.
The Warning
A soldier warned that approaching the barrier could provoke further fire from Israeli troops positioned in houses on a hill overlooking the checkpoint.
When a visitor approached, a soldier stopped them and stated that Israeli troops were located in houses at the top of a hill overlooking the checkpoint. The soldier added that these forces had frequently fired in their direction. The visitor was explicitly warned that approaching the barrier could provoke further fire.
