Emergency Services Respond to Ammonia Leak at Major Ipswich Meat Processing Plant

A significant ammonia leak at the JBS Dinmore facility in Riverview, Ipswich, prompted a large-scale emergency response and the evacuation of nearly 900 workers in the early hours of the morning.

Incident and Response

Fire and emergency services were called to the facility, located on Lock Way, at approximately 12:30 AM local time. Upon arrival, crews initiated a full evacuation of the plant's workforce.

  • A total of 17 workers were assessed by paramedics for respiratory symptoms.
  • Five workers were transported to a hospital in stable condition.

Fire crews remained at the scene for nearly seven hours to manage and neutralize the affected area.
