'Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma' Debuts to Six-Minute Standing Ovation at Cannes

CANNES, FRANCE — The world premiere of Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (billed as Camp Miasma for the festival circuit) drew a six-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival's Un Certain Regard section on Tuesday evening.
Directed by Jane Schoenbrun, the slasher film stars Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson. Before the screening, Schoenbrun quoted Drake's "Started From the Bottom," setting an anticipatory tone for the audience.
During the post-screening applause, Einbinder took a moment to thank the audience and her collaborators. Anderson, making her first appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, expressed her gratitude for the experience.
The film is scheduled for a U.S. theatrical release on August 7, distributed by Mubi. Schoenbrun, known for previous works including We're All Going to the World's Fair and I Saw the TV Glow, continues to build a distinctive filmography with this latest project.
