Woolworths Metro Randwick Closes In-Store Cafe, Affecting Coffee Rewards

"We regret to announce that due to a change in trading conditions, our cafe will be pouring its last coffees on Sunday, May 10th."

The Woolworths Metro store in Randwick, Sydney, permanently closed its in-store cafe on May 10. The closure has directly impacted customers who had accumulated coffee rewards through the Everyday Rewards program, which could previously be redeemed at the cafe.

Under the program, shoppers earn a free barista-made hot drink when spending $30 and scanning their Everyday Rewards card. A sign posted at the store, signed "The Metro Team," thanked patrons for their "patronage and support over the years."

Customers who still wish to redeem their coffee rewards can do so at other Woolworths locations with cafes, including:

  • Nelson Bay
  • North Sydney
  • Zetland
  • Sydney city
  • Chirnside Park, Victoria

Separately, Woolworths has confirmed the discontinuation of the Scan&Go Mobile option, which allowed shoppers to scan items using their mobile devices via the Woolworths/Everyday Rewards app. This feature will be removed from the app as of June 8.

Customers can still use Scan&Go via trolley-mounted devices in stores, and the number of locations offering Scan&Go is expected to increase.

Woolworths was contacted for comment but has not yet responded.
