Armed Robbery on the Fraser Coast: Man Arrested After Cash-in-Transit Heist
Police have arrested a man who allegedly stole money from a cash-in-transit vehicle while armed with a firearm.
Incident Overview
At approximately 6:30 AM, a man allegedly threatened a security officer of an armored vehicle at the Eli Waters shopping centre on the Fraser Coast. A physical altercation ensued, during which the security officer discharged their weapon. No injuries were reported.
The Theft and Escape
Following the altercation, the man allegedly stole cash and fled the scene in a utility vehicle. CCTV footage from a nearby shop captured the vehicle departing.
Arrest and Investigation
Police stopped the vehicle shortly afterward at Craignish and arrested the man. Two crime scenes have been declared. The investigation is ongoing.
