Fast & Furious Live-Action Series in Development at Peacock

Vin Diesel announced the project at NBCUniversal's upfront presentation in New York City on May 12, 2025.

Development Status

Multiple sources confirm the project's existence, though they differ on the number of series planned. Diesel announced that Peacock is launching four shows from the Fast & Furious universe, but a source at the streamer clarified that only one live-action series is currently confirmed to be in active development. Other projects remain in various earlier stages at Universal Television.

A separate report indicates an animated Fast & Furious series is also in development at Netflix, produced by DreamWorks Animation.

Production Team

Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman are serving as co-showrunners and executive producers, and are currently writing the pilot script. The series is produced by Universal Television.

Executive producers include:

  • Vin Diesel and Sam Vincent via One Race
  • Neal Moritz and Pavun Shetty of Original Film
  • Jeff Kirschenbaum
  • Chris Morgan

Background and Context

Plot details—including storyline, setting, and character involvement—have not been disclosed. The pilot's logline has been described simply as:

"More to come."

This will be the second television adaptation in the franchise, following Netflix's animated series Fast & Furious Spy Racers, which aired for six seasons from 2019 to 2021.

Diesel stated that he initially opposed creating a sequel to the original film but changed his position after NBCUniversal's Donna Langley added oversight of NBCUniversal's television operations to her role last year.

Franchise Overview

The Fast & Furious film franchise includes 11 films released over 25 years and has grossed over $7 billion worldwide, making it Universal Pictures' longest-running franchise.

  • The 11th film, Fast Forever, is scheduled for release on March 17, 2028.
  • To mark the franchise's 25th anniversary, the original 2001 film is scheduled to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival on May 13, 2025.
