Revolutionary Guards Issue New Map of Strait of Hormuz Control Zone
The updated maritime boundary, as reported by state media, redefines the western and eastern limits of the Guards' claimed area of control in the strategic waterway.
Tehran, Iran – On Monday, the navy of Iran's Revolutionary Guards released a new map detailing the area of the Strait of Hormuz under its jurisdiction, according to state media reports.
The Western Boundary
The claimed area begins in the west, defined by a line stretching between the westernmost tip of Iran's Qeshm island and the United Arab Emirates' Umm al Quwain emirate.
The Eastern Boundary
In the east, the zone terminates at a line running between Iran's Mount Mobarak and the UAE's Emirate of Fujairah.
Uncertainty Over Changes
It remains unclear whether this newly delineated zone represents a shift in the Guards' claimed control—and if so, to what extent the boundaries have been altered from previous maps.
