Sydney Police Investigate Multiple Fatal Incidents
A series of separate, violent incidents across Sydney has left multiple people dead, with domestic violence at the centre of two cases.
Incident 1: Campbelltown – Triple Murder Charge
A 47-year-old man has been charged with three counts of murder after the bodies of a woman and two young boys were discovered at a home in southwestern Sydney.
Emergency services were called to a residence on Raymond Avenue, Campbelltown, at approximately 7:50 PM on Monday. Officers entered the home and found the bodies of a woman in her mid-40s and two boys under the age of 13 in different rooms. Paramedics were unable to revive them.
The 47-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Campbelltown Police Station. Early Tuesday morning, he was charged with three counts of domestic violence murder. He was refused bail and scheduled to appear in Campbelltown Local Court.
All four individuals were known to each other. The man did not appear in court and did not apply for bail. His lawyer stated the client was distressed and entitled to the presumption of innocence. Reports identify the victims as the man's 46-year-old wife and his two sons, aged 12 and four.
Acting Superintendent Michael Moroney described the scene as a "particularly violent crime scene," stating that all three victims sustained significant injuries. Police recovered items from the premises believed to be relevant to the injuries. No firearms were found at the house, and the 47-year-old was not previously known to police.
A crime scene has been established. The investigation is ongoing with assistance from State Crime Command's homicide squad.
Incident 2: Rosemeadow – Domestic Violence Fatalities
A domestic violence incident in Rosemeadow claimed the lives of three people, with a 32-year-old man now in custody.
Police responded to a disturbance at a home on Juliet Close at approximately 1:30 AM on Sunday. Officers found a 64-year-old man with serious head injuries, the body of a 65-year-old woman, and the body of a man in his 20s. The 64-year-old was taken to Liverpool Hospital but later died.
A 32-year-old man was arrested after arriving at the scene approximately one hour later. He is being questioned at Campbelltown police station. As of publication, no charges have been laid. Police stated the victims "were assaulted by a man known to them."
Superintendent Grant Healey stated that multiple weapons may have been used, including a bladed weapon and a blunt-force object. A 30-year-old sibling was injured in the incident and contacted police; they have since been released from hospital.
