Israeli PM Netanyahu Treated for Early-Stage Prostate Cancer

Diagnosis and Treatment

The cancer was detected via an MRI scan during a routine follow-up after prostate surgery conducted approximately 18 months prior.

According to the annual medical report issued by the Prime Minister's Office, the cancer was found to be early-stage, small, and without metastases.

Netanyahu confirmed on social media that he underwent radiation therapy at the oncology unit of Hadassah Hospital. Hospital director Aharon Popovtser stated that, based on test findings, the disease has disappeared. Netanyahu stated that the targeted treatment removed the tumor with no remaining trace.

Delay of Report Publication

Netanyahu requested a two-month delay in the publication of the report. He stated this was to prevent the release of the information during wartime, which he said could be used by Iran to spread "false propaganda against Israel."

Medical History

The report states that aside from the cancer diagnosis, Netanyahu is in good health. His medical history includes:

  • Surgery on his prostate in 2024 following a urinary tract infection resulting from benign prostate enlargement.
  • The fitting of a pacemaker in 2023.

Previous Health-Related Incidents

In March of this year, rumors circulated claiming Netanyahu had died.

The rumors were spread on social media and Iranian state media. Netanyahu refuted these rumors by recording and publishing a video of himself at a cafe in Jerusalem.

Upcoming Elections

Israeli elections are scheduled for October.
