Authorities in Memphis, Tennessee, are investigating after human remains believed to be of three children were found in a wooded area and drainage system in the Hickory Hill neighborhood.
Discovery Timeline
The discovery began on March 8 when a person walking a dog reported a possible skull near a wooded area. Due to limited lighting, a more extensive search was conducted on March 9. On March 10, a K-9 cadaver dog indicated a drainage pipe, but a camera search found no remains. On April 1, investigators found a second skull in the drainage system. On April 2, search teams found 14 additional bones in the area.
Investigation Status
Authorities believe the remains belong to three children aged between three and seven years old. The remains are estimated to have been there for several years. No other items besides bone fragments have been found. The cause of death has not been determined. Approximately 170 personnel from local, state, and federal agencies, including the FBI, are involved in the ongoing search.
