Fuso launches Shogun 530 with increased power and towing capacity

View source

Daimler Truck’s Fuso brand has launched the Shogun 530, a heavy-duty powerhouse designed to redefine heavy-haul capability.

The new 12.8-liter twin-turbo diesel engine generates 530 hp and 2,600 Nm of torque. This significant power increase allows the truck to operate with a gross combination mass (GCM) of up to 70 tonnes, up from 63 tonnes — enabling it to legally haul B-doubles on various routes.

The engine delivers 2,000 Nm from just 600 rpm, with full peak torque available at 1,100 rpm.

Exterior & Interior Updates

The Shogun 530 features a redesigned front end dominated by a full-width black grille prominently displaying the Fuso name. The lighting has been upgraded to LED headlights and taillights, while safety is enhanced with Active Sideguard Assist radar installed on both sides of the vehicle.

Inside, the cabin is largely carried over but now includes:

  • An updated multimedia unit
  • New trim panels
  • An Isri leather heated seat
  • An electronic parking brake replacing the previous dual manual brake system

Chassis & Powertrain

The model is available in three configurations:

  • Prime mover
  • 6x2 rigid
  • 8x4 chassis (for waste and tipper applications)

Beyond the new 13-liter 530, engine options also include 8-liter and 11-liter units. The Shogun 530 is paired with a 12-speed automated manual transmission, a three-stage Jacobs engine brake, and a 400-liter fuel tank.

Safety & Service

Safety is a priority, with standard equipment including:

  • AEBS Active Brake Assist 6
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Electronic Stability Control
  • Pedestrian detection

Service intervals are set at 50,000 km or 12 months, backed by a five-year or 500,000 km warranty.
