Man Sentenced for Decade-Long Voyeurism Campaign
A man has been sentenced to prison after covertly recording hundreds of videos of six women over a ten-year period.
Jean-Pierre Francis pleaded guilty to six counts of voyeurism and was sentenced to three years and six months in prison at Northampton Crown Court. The court also issued a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed him on the Sex Offenders' Register for life. A destruction order was made for all devices used in the offenses.
Background of the Offenses
Police stated that Francis covertly recorded hundreds of videos of six women between 2015 and 2025. The women were reported to be aged in their 20s to 60s.
According to police, Francis used hidden cameras placed in everyday items such as pens, USB sticks, plugs, and a shower gel bottle. The devices were reportedly placed in the women's homes and workplaces.
"Jean-Pierre Francis carried out sustained and deeply invasive offending, abusing everyday technology to violate the privacy of his victims in places where they should have felt safest."
Police said the offending was uncovered in May 2024 after one woman found a hidden camera in her Northampton home. A subsequent forensic examination of Francis's devices reportedly revealed the full scale of the videos and images.
Investigation and Police Statements
Lead investigator Detective Constable Georgia Sampson described the case as "a complex and highly technical investigation, involving the meticulous examination of multiple devices spanning a decade of offending, and it ultimately exposed the true scale of his behaviour."
Sampson credited PC Sean Taylor from the Digital Media Investigation Team, stating his "expertise and persistence in downloading and analysing a vast quantity of digital material was instrumental in securing this conviction."
Regarding the victims, Sampson added that the police priority was to "give the victims a voice" and that she hoped the outcome "allows them to move forward."
She concluded by stating: "Tackling violence against women and girls is a priority for Northamptonshire Police and we will continue working hard to put more people like Francis behind bars."
