On April 22, 2025, Darrell Sheets, a longtime cast member of the reality television series Storage Wars, was found deceased at his residence in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was 67 years old.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department (LHPD) responded to a report of a deceased individual at Sheets' home on Chandler Drive at approximately 2 a.m. local time. Officers pronounced Sheets dead at the scene from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Sheets' body was transferred to the Mohave County Medical Examiner's office for further investigation.

Investigation and Official Statements

The LHPD's Criminal Investigations Unit has assumed the investigation, which remains active. An official cause of death has not yet been determined by the medical examiner.

The department has stated that it is aware of allegations of cyberbullying involving Sheets, and that these allegations are included as part of the active investigation.

LHPD Sergeant Kyle Ridgeway confirmed the department is investigating both Sheets' death and his cyberbullying claims as a single active case. He declined further comment due to the ongoing investigation.

According to media reports, Sheets filed a police report with LHPD in January 2023 alleging he had received online threats.

Allegations of Cyberbullying

Laura Dotson, a co-star and auctioneer on Storage Wars, stated in an interview that Sheets' family reported he had been experiencing cyberbullying for three years prior to his death. Dotson reported that Sheets expressed fear for his safety and the safety of those around him, and that he did not understand why he was being targeted.

"He was scared. He didn't know why this was happening to him."

Fellow cast members have commented publicly on the allegations:

  • Rene Nezhoda posted a video on Instagram stating that Sheets had someone "really, really tormenting" him on social media and urged authorities to investigate.
  • Dave Hester stated that he learned of Sheets' death from a news outlet. He cautioned against jumping to conclusions: "We don't know if he was sick, if he was in pain, we don't know any of those things."
  • Brandi Passante posted a remembrance on Instagram, stating she was "at a loss for words" and urging those struggling with mental health to seek help.

Statements from Darrell Sheets

In a Facebook post attributed to Sheets on March 11, he named an individual he claimed was cyberbullying him, writing: "Well people here is my cyber bully stalker just letting people know if anything happens to me this him." He added that the situation "has been going on for 3 years with him and the things he says are very damaging."

In a March 9 post, he wrote: "One again people of Havasu, I have been hacked by a very evil person."

In a prior Instagram post from June 2018, Sheets described depression as a "24/7 battle" and advised that people should "be kind" to others dealing with depression.

Darrell Sheets was born on May 13, 1958, in California. He appeared on 163 episodes of the A&E reality competition series Storage Wars between 2010 and 2023. The show features buyers competing at auctions for abandoned and unopened storage lockers.
