Prime Video Announces Third Season of The Rings of Power
The upcoming season will feature a major time jump, placing the action at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as Sauron attempts to forge the One Ring.
Production for the third season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is currently underway at Shepperton Studios in the United Kingdom. The season is slated for release later this year.
Plot and Setting
The plot of the third season will center on Sauron's attempt to craft the One Ring during the War of the Elves. This conflict directly precedes the War of the Last Alliance, which was famously depicted in the prologue of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy.
A significant time jump will move the narrative forward to the peak of this war, marking a new phase in the series' storytelling.

The series was officially renewed for a third season in February 2025. The second season concluded in October 2024, setting the stage for the upcoming chapter.
