Child Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle in Caboolture
A three-year-old girl has died after being struck by a vehicle in Caboolture, Queensland. Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident, which occurred on Tuesday evening. The driver remained at the scene and is assisting with the investigation.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:45 PM on Tuesday at the intersection of Lynfield Drive and Toohey Street in Caboolture, located north of Brisbane.
A three-year-old girl was struck by a Nissan Navara utility vehicle as it was turning right from Lynfield Drive onto Toohey Street. The child was walking with family members at the time.
Paramedics treated the girl for critical injuries at the scene. She was pronounced dead a short time later.
Investigation and Witness Accounts
The driver of the vehicle, a 49-year-old woman from Caboolture, remained at the scene and is assisting police with their inquiries. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Police investigators are examining the circumstances, including whether the child may have run onto the road. Police have described the collision as an accident.
A witness, Kevin Taylor, suggested a bus may have obstructed the driver's view as she turned onto Toohey Street. CCTV footage from a nearby residence shows the family walking on the side of the road prior to the incident.
Local residents reported hearing screams following the accident. Jason Lubbers, another resident, stated he approached to offer assistance but observed the injuries were severe.
Aftermath and Community Response
Following the incident, two women, aged in their 20s and 40s, and a male toddler were transported to Caboolture Hospital in stable condition, suffering from emotional distress.
On Wednesday morning, floral tributes and teddy bears were placed at the site of the incident.
