Kate Middleton Wears Queen Elizabeth's Jewels at Centenary Event

The British royal family gathered to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late Queen Elizabeth II. The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, made a notable appearance in a lilac Emilia Wickstead dress, accessorized with significant pieces of jewelry that once belonged to the Queen.

This was Kate Middleton's first public appearance since Easter Sunday, when she also wore the same earrings.

She wore a three-strand pearl necklace, which she had previously worn shortly after the Queen's death during a Buckingham Palace reception. For this event, she paired it with Queen Elizabeth's Bahrain Pearl Drop earrings.

Notably, the Princess and Prince William did not join other senior royals at a separate event held earlier in the day at the British Museum.

Background and Personal Tributes

The choice of jewelry follows a pattern of the Princess honoring her late grandmother-in-law. The connection between Kate Middleton and Queen Elizabeth was highlighted in tributes following the monarch's passing in 2022.

Prince William wrote: "My wife has had twenty years of her guidance and support. My three children have got to spend holidays with her and create memories that will last their whole lives."

A personal anecdote from a 2016 documentary also sheds light on their relationship. Kate Middleton recalled a thoughtful early gesture she made for the Queen.

"I can remember being at Sandringham, for the first time, at Christmas... I decided to make my granny's recipe of chutney. I was slightly worried about it, but I noticed the next day that it was on the table. I think such a simple gesture went such a long way for me."

This memory underscores the personal bond that was formed over two decades, a bond now being honored through the symbolic wearing of the Queen's personal jewels at official commemorations.
