Law enforcement received a call regarding a fight in progress at Leinbach Park at approximately 9:52 a.m. on Monday. The call was later upgraded to a shooting.

The Winston-Salem Police Department stated the incident started as a pre-arranged physical altercation between two young people. According to police, the situation escalated, and multiple individuals began shooting at each other.

Casualties and Investigation

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation confirmed two fatalities at the scene. The deceased have been identified as two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17.

Multiple other individuals were injured. Reports indicate five injured people with ages ranging from 14 to 19, four of whom are female. Their conditions were reported as ranging from critical to minor.

Several roads, including Norman Road at Robinhood Road and Sally Kirk Road at Norman Road, were closed as law enforcement responded. The park remained closed as of Monday afternoon. Leinbach Park is located in a suburban residential area northwest of downtown Winston-Salem.
