In the early hours of Sunday, a shooting occurred in downtown Iowa City near the University of Iowa campus. The Iowa City Police Department (ICPD) responded to a report of a large fight in the 100 block of East College Street at approximately 1:46 a.m. Upon arrival, officers heard gunfire.

- 1:51 a.m.: The University of Iowa issued a Hawk Alert warning of gunfire and advising the public to stay away from the area of College and Clinton streets.
- 2:03 a.m.: First responders were on the scene. The university's emergency management website confirmed there were victims.
