President Trump Says Iran Has Agreed to Nuclear Deal Terms

In a phone interview reported by Axios, President Donald Trump stated that Iran has agreed to the terms of a potential nuclear deal and will work with the United States to remove its enriched uranium.

President Trump said Iran has "agreed to everything" regarding nuclear negotiations and will cooperate to remove its enriched uranium.

Key Details of the Proposed Agreement

The president stated this process would not involve U.S. ground troops. When asked who would retrieve the uranium, Trump said "our people" would work together with Iranians. He indicated the material would ultimately be brought to the United States.

Trump also stated Iran has agreed to stop backing proxy groups including Hezbollah and Hamas. He said U.S. and Iranian officials are meeting this weekend, and that the U.S. would continue its blockade of Iran "until we get it done."

Clarification on Financial Terms

Addressing a previous report from Axios, Trump denied reports that the U.S. would release $20 billion in frozen Iranian assets as part of an agreement. He was emphatic, stating, "No, we are not paying 10 cents."

The Axios report had previously indicated the Trump administration was discussing the possibility of releasing frozen Iranian assets in exchange for Iran's nuclear stockpile.
