Chiefs GM Brett Veach Eyes Offensive Line in 2026 NFL Draft

Kansas City Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach enters the 2026 NFL Draft holding three valuable early selections: No. 9, No. 29, and No. 40 overall. According to reports, Veach is closely monitoring offensive line prospects who might be available at those picks.

"I think you’re gonna get a massive run of offensive linemen from 10 to 25," Veach stated.

He elaborated on the perceived depth of the position group, suggesting the talent pool may not last long. "Offensive line, there’s some talent there, but I do think it dries up quickly, and by 35, it could be slim pickings. . . . Maybe it extends to pick 35 or 40." Given this assessment, Veach indicated he might not be able to draft an offensive lineman he likes by the No. 40 pick.

Top Prospects and Projections

Observers believe the top offensive line prospect, Miami tackle Francis Mauigoa, will be selected within the Top 10 picks. He is part of a group of linemen mentioned as likely first-round selections:

  • Spencer Fano (Utah)
  • Monroe Freeling (Georgia)
  • Kadyn Proctor (Alabama)
  • Olaivavega Ioane (Penn State)
  • Blake Miller (Clemson)
  • Chase Bisontis (Texas A&M)

Veach's Draft Strategy

Reports indicate Veach is looking at this group of players. His strategy appears to involve:

  • Potentially targeting one at pick No. 9.
  • Hoping a prospect might fall to pick No. 29.
  • Doubting a desirable lineman will remain available by pick No. 40.
