Macron Backs Trump-Announced Ceasefire, Voices Concern
French President Emmanuel Macron has publicly supported the ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel announced by former U.S. President Donald Trump. He also expressed concern that the agreement may be at risk.
"I fully support the ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel as announced by President Trump yesterday. I also express my concern that it may already be undermined by the continuation of military operations," Macron stated on social media platform X.
In his remarks, Macron also called for Hezbollah to "renounce its weapons" and stated that "Israel must respect Lebanese sovereignty and stop the war."
Reports of Ceasefire Violations
The Lebanese Army reported on Friday that Israel violated the 10-day ceasefire after it took effect. The reported violations included the shelling of several villages in southern Lebanon.
