iOS 26.4 Changes How You Find App Updates
A recent update to iOS has altered the navigation path for a common App Store task: checking for app updates.
The Change in Navigation
Previously, users could access a list of available updates by opening the App Store and tapping their profile image in the top-right corner. This action would take them directly to the Updates screen.
In iOS 26.4, accessing the list from the same starting point now requires an additional step. After tapping the profile icon, users must now tap a new 'Updates' menu option within the account page to reach the list of pending updates.
The change in navigation may be perceived as less convenient for users who perform this action frequently.
A Working Shortcut Remains
While the in-app navigation has changed, a pre-existing shortcut method for accessing the Updates screen remains fully functional.
This involves long-pressing the App Store icon on the home screen and selecting 'Updates' from the pop-up menu. This action bypasses the App Store's home screen and opens the app directly to the Updates list.
Background
Checking for app updates is a regular activity for many users, whether to access new features, install important bug fixes, or review update details before installing.
