Survey Reveals High iPhone Loyalty and Asymmetric Platform Switching
A recent survey of U.S. smartphone users indicates a high rate of brand loyalty among iPhone owners and a higher rate of platform switching from Android to iPhone than the reverse. The survey, conducted by SellCell, also tracked an increase in iPhone loyalty over a seven-year period.

The survey was conducted by SellCell and involved over 5,000 smartphone users in the United States. Participants, who used either iPhone or Android devices, were asked about their intentions for their next phone purchase. SellCell stated that this sample size is statistically robust.
Key Findings on Brand Loyalty and Switching
The survey presented the following data on user intentions:
- Among iPhone users surveyed, 96.4% stated they would buy another iPhone for their next upgrade.
- 3.6% of iPhone users surveyed stated they would switch to an Android device.
- Among Android users surveyed, 13.6% stated they intended to switch to an iPhone.
Based on these figures, the survey report indicates that Android users are approximately 3.7 times more likely to switch to iPhone than iPhone users are to switch to Android.
Trend in iPhone Brand Loyalty
According to the survey data, iPhone brand loyalty among surveyed users increased from 90.5% in 2019 to 96.4% in 2026. The report notes that most of this growth occurred after 2021.

Survey respondents provided reasons for their stated upgrade intentions.
