Spaceballs Sequel Announced for 2027 Release
Filmmaker Mel Brooks announced the title and key details for a sequel to the 1987 film Spaceballs during a video presentation at the CinemaCon convention on Wednesday night. The sequel, titled Spaceballs: The New One, is scheduled for release on April 23, 2027, by Amazon MGM Studios.

Original cast members Rick Moranis, George Wyner, Daphne Zuniga, Bill Pullman, and Mel Brooks are confirmed to return.
New cast members include Lewis Pullman (Bill Pullman's son), Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, and Anthony Carrigan. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Lewis Pullman will portray the son of his father's character, Lone Starr. The roles for the other new cast members have not been disclosed.

First Footage Description
During the CinemaCon presentation, a narrator stated, "While they can't show you much, they can show you a series of clips that make little sense out of context."
The footage included a scene featuring a character resembling a Na'vi from the film Avatar using a urinal next to Rick Moranis's character. In the scene, Moranis's character says, "I see you," in the Na'vi language.
Background Context
In 2024, Josh Gad posted on Instagram about completing a film script, which he described as potentially "the funniest and best thing I've ever worked on."
In the same post, Gad stated that working with co-writers Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez "has been heaven on Earth and many other planets as well."
