CBS Unveils Primetime Schedule for Fall 2026-27 Season

CBS has released its primetime television schedule for the upcoming fall season. The lineup features a mix of new series, established franchise blocks, and returning hits, with several notable shifts to midseason.

The schedule is built on "a strong foundation of returning hits who are early in their cycle," said CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach.

Weekly Schedule & Key Changes

The network is organizing its week around four core programming blocks:

  • Mondays: FBI franchise
  • Tuesdays: NCIS franchise
  • Thursdays: Programming from executive producers Robert and Michelle King
  • Fridays: Fire Country franchise

Significant changes to the lineup include:

  • Sunday: Tracker and Marshals will remain in their time slots following 60 Minutes.
  • Monday: The comedy block featuring The Neighborhood and DMV has ended. The night will now feature FBI at 8 PM, followed by CIA at 9 PM, and Harlan Coben's Final Twist at 10 PM.
  • Tuesday: NCIS will air at 8 PM, followed by the new series NCIS: New York at 9 PM. NCIS: Origins will move to a midseason return.
  • Thursday: The new comedy Eternally Yours will air at 9:30 PM, following Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage.

Returning series include Survivor and The Amazing Race on Wednesdays, and Sheriff Country, Fire Country, and Boston Blue on Fridays.

New Series for Fall

Three new series are scheduled for a fall premiere:

  • NCIS: New York: A spinoff starring LL Cool J reprising his role as Sam Hanna, who partners with an agent played by Scott Caan in New York City. The series is produced by CBS Studios.
  • Eternally Yours: A single-camera comedy about a vampire couple, from showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman. It is produced by CBS Studios.
  • Cupertino: A legal drama set in Silicon Valley about lawyers involved in cases against tech companies. It is executive produced by Robert and Michelle King, who also serve as co-showrunners, and is produced by CBS Studios.

Midseason Plans & Specials

Several series are planned for midseason premieres:

  • Einstein: A crime procedural starring Matthew Gray Gubler as Lewis Einstein, who helps a police detective solve cases. It is produced by CBS Studios with Andy Breckman as showrunner.
  • Ghosts and Matlock will also return in midseason.
  • NCIS: Sydney will return in midseason, replacing NCIS: Origins in its time slot.

The network has scheduled two specials:

  • The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards will air on CBS on Saturday, November 14, 2026.
  • A live primetime Christmas special of The Price Is Right is scheduled for December 2026.

Notes on Comedy Programming

The new schedule features only two half-hour comedies, a number described by one source as an all-time low for the network. Regarding this, Reisenbach noted that CBS has comedic elements in hourlong series including Elsbeth and the upcoming Einstein.

She explained the decision to launch Eternally Yours on Thursday by citing the strength of its lead-in, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage.
