Fremantle Provide Derby Fitness Update
Fremantle's Director of Performance, Adam Beard, has provided a detailed update on player availability ahead of the club's crucial upcoming match against cross-town rivals West Coast. The update confirms three players are unavailable, while two others will face fitness tests this week.
The 62nd Western Derby between Fremantle and West Coast is scheduled for Sunday, April 19 at Optus Stadium.
Players Ruled Out
Three Fremantle players have been confirmed as unavailable for selection for the Derby.
- Sean Darcy is in concussion protocol after sustaining a knock during a game.
- Bailey Banfield is also in concussion protocol following a knock received in a WAFL (West Australian Football League) match.
- Sam Sturt is continuing his progression from a knee injury and will undergo 3D analysis. Reports on his recovery have been described as positive.
Players Under Assessment
Two key players will be tested this week to determine their availability after taking part in rehabilitation work.
Hayden Young (hamstring) and Michael Frederick (ankle) both participated in a football circuit over the past weekend. The session was overseen by physiotherapist and rehabilitation manager James Grierson along with club coaches.
According to the update from Adam Beard, both players "progressed well" from the activity. They are now scheduled to return to full football training this week, where their fitness for selection will be formally assessed.
