Missing Bush Walker Found Safe in WA's South West

An 87-year-old woman reported missing after a bush walk in Western Australia's South West region has been located and reunited with her family.

The woman was found by search teams on Saturday afternoon, approximately two kilometers from her starting point near Donnelly River Village. She was assessed by paramedics and reported to be tired and dehydrated but uninjured.

• Police received a report around 8:00 PM that the woman had not returned from a planned bush walk near Donnelly River Village, located approximately 35 kilometers southeast of Nannup.

Friday Night - Saturday Morning

• Family members reported they had been unable to locate the woman or make contact.
• Authorities noted that poor mobile phone coverage in the area contributed to the difficulties.

Saturday Afternoon

• At approximately 1:00 PM, a coordinated search team located the woman on an isolated bush track about two kilometers east of Donnelly River Village.

Search and Recovery

The search involved personnel from the Western Australia Police and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA). The woman was conveyed from the location to a police command post.

Condition and Aftermath

At the command post, the woman was assessed by paramedics from St John WA. She was reported to be dehydrated and tired but had sustained no injuries.

The woman stated she had managed overnight by rationing a packet of raisins she was carrying.

Following the medical assessment, she was reunited with her family.
