Study Aims to Improve Safety for NSW Hospitality Workers
Researchers from the University of New South Wales and the University of Melbourne are conducting a study into sexual harassment and sexual assault experienced or witnessed by hospitality workers in New South Wales. The study, funded by the NSW Government, aims to gather data to inform strategies for creating safer workplaces in liquor-licensed venues.
Study Overview and Purpose
The research project is led by University of Melbourne Associate Professor Bianca Fileborn. According to the study announcement, its objective is to produce evidence-based strategies and policy recommendations for venue operators, employers, and government bodies.
The stated goal is to reduce harm and improve workplace safety within the hospitality sector.
Participation Details
Researchers are inviting current and former hospitality workers to participate in an anonymous and confidential survey.
Eligibility: Participants must be over 18 years of age and have worked at a liquor-licensed venue or event in New South Wales. This includes work at music festivals.
Survey Details: The survey is estimated to take 15 to 30 minutes to complete. Participants are advised they can skip any questions they are not comfortable answering.
Incentive: Individuals who choose to provide contact details upon completion will be entered into a draw to win one of eight $250 gift vouchers.
