F-100D Super Sabre Nears Release for DCS World
Eagle Dynamics and partner developer Grinnelli Designs have announced that the F-100D Super Sabre module for the DCS World flight simulator is nearing release. The Vietnam-era fighter has completed major development milestones and is in its final preparation stages. This announcement coincides with other recent updates for the simulator, including new aircraft modules and a map.
Module Development Status
The developers report that the module has reached an advanced stage of development. According to the announcement, all core systems for the aircraft have been completed.
The flight model is in its final tuning phase, with specific work mentioned on replicating the aircraft's unique handling characteristics, including its high-speed performance and low-speed behavior.
Other finalization work includes completing the damage model and integrating audio using recordings from a real F-100D airframe. The aircraft is currently undergoing internal testing within the DCS World environment at Eagle Dynamics.
Aircraft Features and Authenticity
The module's visual and physical model is based on high-fidelity photogrammetry scans of an actual F-100D aircraft, which the developers state has resulted in detailed textures and precise 3D modeling.
The package will include a selection of historically accurate liveries representing both United States Air Force (USAF) training squadrons and combat squadrons that served during the Vietnam War.
About DCS World
DCS World is a free-to-play flight simulation software for personal computers (PC) that focuses on military aviation from World War II to the present day. The simulator operates on a module-based business model where the core platform is free, but additional content such as specific aircraft, campaigns, and maps are available as separate purchases.
Eagle Dynamics offers a free trial program for these paid modules.
