Body of Girl Recovered from Brisbane River
A seven-year-old girl was recovered from the Brisbane River on Saturday evening following a search and rescue operation. A school-aged boy who was in the water at the same location was transported to a hospital in stable condition.
Incident Details
The incident occurred at the Colleges Crossing Recreation Reserve in Chuwar, Ipswich. Emergency services were called to the location shortly after 5:00 PM on Saturday after the girl did not resurface while swimming.
Search and Recovery
A search and rescue operation was launched in response. Police divers located and recovered the girl's body from the river shortly before 10:30 PM.
Condition of Second Child
A school-aged boy who was in the water at the same time and location was taken to Ipswich Hospital. Representatives from the Queensland Ambulance Service reported the boy was in stable condition.
