Woman Charged with Attempted Murder After Alleged Poisoning in Logan

A 43-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged poisoning incident in Yarrabilba, south of Brisbane, on March 12.

Police allege the woman gave a substance to herself and a 10-year-old girl, who is known to her, causing both to become ill. The woman has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in May.

Alleged Incident and Medical Response

According to police, the alleged incident occurred on March 12 in the Logan suburb of Yarrabilba. Authorities allege the woman administered a substance to herself and a 10-year-old girl.

  • Both individuals reportedly became sick and vomited after ingesting the substance.
  • Emergency services transported both the woman and the child to Logan Hospital for treatment.
  • The 10-year-old girl was discharged from the hospital on the same day.
  • The 43-year-old woman remained in hospital until Friday, March 22, when she was released directly into police custody.

Police Investigation and Charges

Queensland Police child protection detectives were informed of the incident on March 16 and initiated an investigation, designated Operation Yankee Streethawk.

Following the investigation, the 43-year-old woman was charged with one count of attempted murder. Police have classified the charge as a domestic violence offence.

Legal Proceedings

The woman has been remanded in custody. She is scheduled to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on May 12.
