Maritime Navigation to Resume Sunday with Daytime Hours
The Ministry of Transport announced on Saturday the full resumption of maritime navigation activities, effective from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The decision applies to all categories of marine vessels and transport modes. In its statement, the ministry urged vessel operators to comply with all relevant safety protocols. The resumption will see operations permitted daily within the specified 12-hour window.
Unresolved Status of the Strait of Hormuz
The announcement did not specify whether the resumption of activities would apply to the transit of Qatari vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
As of Saturday, the Strait of Hormuz remained effectively closed to navigation. It was not immediately clear from the ministry's announcement if the decision would alter the status of the strait for Qatari-flagged ships.
