IDC Unveils AI-Powered IDC Quanta™ Platform for Embedded Technology Intelligence

IDC launched IDC Quanta™, an AI-powered platform, at its IDC Directions 2026 event. The platform aims to provide an embedded technology intelligence layer for the AI economy, delivering insights directly into business workflows.

"The accelerated pace of business driven by AI necessitates intelligence delivered in the moment, grounded in trusted data."
— Lorenzo Larini, CEO of IDC

Key Principles of IDC Quanta™

IDC Quanta™ is built on five design principles, ensuring a robust and reliable intelligence layer:

  • Embedded: Delivers intelligence within existing tools such as email and collaboration platforms, seamlessly integrating into daily operations.
  • Contextual: Allows organizations to integrate their own data and content for combined analysis with IDC research, providing tailored insights.
  • Secure: Ensures enterprise-grade privacy, data isolation, and governance, with customer data explicitly not used for model training.
  • Aware: Provides scheduled intelligence automatically, leveraging trend signals and peer patterns to proactively suggest insights.
  • Rigorous: Grounded in IDC's proprietary data, research, and analyst expertise spanning over 60 years, offering citable answers and transparency into methodology.

Collaboration and Future Plans

IDC announced it is developing a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for the technology intelligence layer. A key collaboration is underway with Anthropic, integrating IDC's proprietary research, data, and methodologies directly into Claude workflows via MCP and plugins. This partnership will enable entitlement-based access to IDC's extensive knowledge base.

This integration aims to facilitate 'agentic workflows,' where AI can execute research tasks, synthesize data, generate structured outputs, and produce deliverables on behalf of the user.

Mark Terranova, Director of Worldwide Analyst Relations at Kyndryl, commented on the platform's ability to "significantly reduce the time needed to draw conclusions from extensive research."

IDC Quanta™ is expected to be generally available in summer 2026.
